Verizon is laying off 54 employees in Washington as part of a nationwide restructuring to consolidate operations and maximize resources.

Verizon is laying off 54 employees in Washington to streamline operations and maximize company resources. The administration announced the move via a worker adjustment and retraining notification on Thursday, with the job cuts scheduled to take effect on Sept. 18. The layoffs affect a variety of roles, including assistant retail managers, sales associates, senior retail managers, a director of retail operations, a senior analyst, an associate director of operations, a business intelligence senior manager, and a principal experience designer. The cuts also include three remote employees living in Washington. These local reductions are part of a broader national restructuring. Verizon is currently selling 274 retail locations across the United States, which will result in approximately 500 job cuts. In total, the restructure will impact around 3,000 retail and corporate employees. To improve customer retention, the company is also moving toward simpler plans, removing activation and upgrade fees, and introducing a new loyalty program.
