Andrew Tate and Tristan Tate will fight extradition to the United Kingdom following arrest on rape and sex-trafficking charges.
Andrew Tate and Tristan Tate appeared in federal court in Miami on Monday to face a UK extradition request involving 59 combined charges of rape, assault, and human trafficking. The brothers, who were arrested by US Marshals on Saturday, are currently being held in federal detention. Their attorney, Joseph McBride, argued that the brothers are innocent and characterized the UK's prosecution as a potential "political offense" against free speech. While the final decision on extradition rests with Secretary of State Marco Rubio, the administration announced that the arrests were approved by the leadership of the Justice Department's criminal division. The brothers, who are dual US and UK citizens, have gained international notoriety for their social media presence promoting wealth and male dominance. Although they are currently facing legal proceedings in Romania and Florida, the UK seeks to bring them back for trial regarding offenses committed between 2010 and 2017. The brothers waived their attendance for the next hearing, which is scheduled for next Monday.
