Taylor Farms recalls shredded iceberg lettuce across 27 states following a multistate Cyclospora parasite outbreak.
Taylor Farms has issued a voluntary recall of shredded iceberg lettuce distributed in 27 states due to potential Cyclospora contamination. The parasite, which causes symptoms such as nausea and stomach cramps, has been linked to a growing multistate outbreak that has sickened 1,644 people and hospitalized 94 across five states. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration and the CDC are currently investigating the supplier. While the recall covers 12-ounce and 24-ounce bags of Marketside iceberg salad, Taylor Farms clarified that its branded salad kits are not implicated. The company is removing the affected produce from its Guanajuato facility in central Mexico. Taco Bell was among the first to respond, announcing it would stop using lettuce from the supplier in several states. Consumers are advised to check lot codes and throw away affected products or return them for a refund. Health officials noted that while the investigation is ongoing, additional brands or distribution channels may be identified in the coming weeks.
