U.S. Marshals arrest Keyan Jayden Rundell in connection to the double homicide of two teenagers in DeLand
U.S. Marshals arrested Keyan Jayden Rundell, a 17-year-old, in connection to the fatal shootings of Dustin Rose and Samson Campbell. The two teenagers, described as childhood friends, were found shot and abandoned in a vacant industrial lot in downtown DeLand on July 29. Police Chief Jason Umberger confirmed that Rundell was apprehended at a hotel in Manatee County. Investigators believe the three individuals knew each other and met at the crime scene on the evening of July 28. Evidence recovered from a search warrant, including clothing and an e-bike, helped identify Rundell as the primary suspect. While Rundell faces two counts of second-degree murder, State Attorney R.J. Larrizza is currently determining the appropriate charges. Volusia County Sheriff Mike Chitwood noted that Rundell has a significant criminal history, suggesting that earlier lack of prosecution may have contributed to the current situation. The victims, Dustin Rose and Samson Campbell, were found by one of their mothers and reported to the police.
