A Russian strike on a Guinea-Bissau-flagged cargo ship near the Ukrainian port of Odesa has resulted in 10 deaths. The vessel, carrying corn and manned by a crew from India and Syria, was hit by cruise missiles on Sunday, causing a significant fire. Ukraine's seaports authority confirmed that nine crew members and one pilot were killed, while four of the victims were identified as Indian nationals. The attack marks the deadliest strike on a cargo ship in the Black Sea recently. Russia is increasingly targeting maritime exports to deter foreign companies from using Ukraine's primary maritime corridor, which accounts for over two-thirds of the country's agricultural exports. In a retaliatory move, Ukraine launched over 400 drones at the Moscow region overnight. While most were intercepted by Russian air defenses, the strikes wounded at least 10 people and damaged several buildings. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that the strikes on Russian logistics facilities and an oil depot serve as a just response to the ongoing bombardments of Ukrainian territory.
