John Mark Steward is confirmed as one of two victims killed by catastrophic flooding in the Texas Hill Country.

John Mark Steward was identified as one of two people killed by severe flooding in the Texas Hill Country this week. The victim, a Westlake High School graduate, was found in Kerr County after a strong stream made it difficult for him to reach his home. The flooding has caused widespread destruction across Central Texas, with the Guadalupe River rising 32 feet in just four hours. While the current flood has resulted in fewer deaths than similar events in previous years, it has necessitated hundreds of rescues by Texas Game Wardens and other first responders. In Uvalde County, a 74-year-old man was killed after his vehicle was swept off a highway. Additionally, the Farm-to-Market 481 bridge collapsed Friday morning due to the swollen Nueces River. Authorities have issued multiple Flash Flood Emergencies for surrounding areas, including Crockett and Kendall counties, urging residents to seek higher ground and avoid flooded roads.
