The data indicates that missiles have become a more prominent element of Russian munitions, reaching a record high of over 7% of the total count. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and his military commanders have noted the difficulty of intercepting ballistic missiles, which often fly at high speeds and sharp angles. While the U.S.-made Patriot system remains a primary defense, a global shortage of interceptor missiles and the administration's decision to wind down U.S. aid to Kyiv have strained Ukrainian defenses. To counter these pressures, Ukraine is developing its own homegrown interceptor, the Freyja, while also seeking more Patriot missiles from the administration. Although President Trump initially offered a production license for the Patriot system, the administration later clarified that a production license was not yet agreed upon. Meanwhile, Ukraine has also enacted sanctions against 23 companies and 20 individuals to weaken Russia's military-industrial complex.
