Democratic Socialists of America Release New Platform Aiming to Overhaul U.S. Government and Economy
The Democratic Socialists of America (DSA) recently unveiled its new policy platform, "Workers Deserve More," which outlines a vision for a socialist transition in the United States. The organization, which now boasts 120,000 members, proposes radical structural changes including the abolition of the U.S. Senate, the replacement of the president and Supreme Court with an executive judiciary subordinate to Congress, and the implementation of aggressive wealth taxes on large corporations. While the platform includes popular progressive goals like universal healthcare, free pre-K, and a Green New Deal, it also features more maximalist demands such as making large corporations public and ending all U.S. military aid to Israel. The administration announced that the DSA is currently the largest socialist organization in American history. Republicans have reacted with criticism, with House Speaker Mike Johnson labeling the platform's radical policies as "communism." The DSA continues to seek to expand its influence within the Democratic Party, aiming to move the party's platform further to the left.
