The administration announced the opening of the first Freedom Fuel station in Dresher, Pennsylvania, as part of a new network of convenience stores. President Trump promoted the chain for its "rock bottom" promotional price of $3.47 per gallon, a rate designed to benefit consumers during a period of high oil prices caused by the war with Iran. While the administration acknowledged discussions with the network's developers, it clarified that the government is not involved in the company's operations nor provided any direct funding. The network is run by a group of businessmen, including Randy Brown and Yoni Gontownik. Records show that the Kazmi brothers, Shamikh and Syed, also manage a significant portion of the stations despite a history of civil misconduct and legal disputes. The White House released a video showing patrons thanking President Trump for the 50-cent-a-gallon discount. Although the stations are currently selling gas at a loss to make a market splash, the network has already seen prices begin to rise slightly as the initial promotional period continues.
