Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International remains the world's busiest airport for 2025 according to new global aviation data.
Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International maintained its position as the world's busiest airport in 2025, handling over 108 million passengers last year. According to data from Airports Council International, the Georgia hub has held the top spot for 27 of the last 28 years, only losing the title in 2020 due to the Covid-19 pandemic. The global aviation landscape shows a significant shift toward newer, more efficient aircraft. The International Air Transport Association reported that the Airbus A220 saw the fastest growth, with flight activity increasing by 770.4 percent since 2019. Meanwhile, the Boeing 737 remains the most utilized aircraft family globally. The Middle East has also emerged as a dominant force in luxury travel, securing the second-highest global share of premium-class passengers. This growth is driven by major hubs like Dubai International Airport and the expansion of high-end carriers such as Emirates and Qatar Airways. Despite these gains, the United States remains the world's largest passenger market, though it recorded the slowest growth among the top ten markets.
