Texas Dominates National Boomtown Rankings with Seven of the Top 10 Communities
Texas has emerged as a primary economic powerhouse, securing seven of the top 10 boomtown communities in the United States. According to a new analysis by SmartAsset, the state's growth is driven by a combination of rapid population increase, investment, and development. Georgetown, Texas, took the top spot, followed closely by New Braunfels, Texas. While Florida holds the record for the highest number of boomtowns, Texas remains a leading destination for high-income movers and business investment. IRS migration data indicates that Texas gained over $5 billion in adjusted gross income from interstate movers, while California and New York recorded multibillion-dollar losses. Gabriela von zur Muehlen, chief policy officer at the Texas Association of Business, noted that the state's tax structure and predictable regulatory environment continue to attract businesses. Furthermore, the state is becoming a primary destination for massive data center projects to support the AI boom. Despite some volatility, projections suggest significant growth in wage and salary employment through 2030.
