Representative Buddy Carter requests FCC review of major networks for failing to air President Trump's primetime election security address.
Representative Buddy Carter, R-Ga., has requested that the Federal Communications Commission review the broadcast decisions of ABC, NBC, and CBS. The networks either declined to air live or cut away from the primetime address delivered by President Trump on July 16. Carter argued that the public airwaves should inform the American people rather than allowing corporate executives to select which matters of national importance to highlight. The administration announced the release of critical intelligence documents during the speech, which revealed vulnerabilities in the nation's election infrastructure and alleged Chinese meddling. While Fox News, CBS, and MS Now aired large portions of the address, ABC and NBC chose not to broadcast it live on their primary networks. President Trump criticized the networks for being part of a "plot" to protect the radical left. Carter noted that while the networks could disagree with the content, the American people deserved to hear the information directly to judge it for themselves.
