An EF-3 tornado struck Menasha, Wisconsin, leaving residents to begin cleanup and power restoration efforts.
Residents of the Fox Valley and surrounding areas are beginning cleanup efforts following a powerful EF-3 tornado that struck Menasha on Tuesday morning. The storm traveled 12.1 miles with wind speeds of 140 mph, causing extensive damage to homes, businesses, and infrastructure. Local authorities are assessing the damage, and a curfew is in place for Menasha from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. until further notice. Wisconsin Public Service and We Energies are working to restore power to thousands of customers across the state. Matt Cullen of Wisconsin Public Service reported that crews have restored power to more than 19,000 customers since the start of the storms. In Oneida County, WPS has made significant progress, reducing outages from over 5,000 to approximately 1,100. Emergency shelters are open, and Volunteer Fox Cities has established a sign-up page for community members to assist with recovery. Donations of food and water are being collected at the former UW–Oshkosh Fox Cities campus.
