The National Hurricane Center is monitoring Invest 91L as it brings heavy rain to Florida's Gulf Coast and Panhandle.

The National Hurricane Center is tracking a disorganized mass of thunderstorms in the eastern Gulf of America, designated as Invest 91L. While the system currently lacks a well-defined circulation, it is expected to bring multiple rounds of heavy rain and gusty thunderstorms to the Florida Panhandle and the Gulf Coast over the next several days. Forecasters indicate a 20 percent chance of tropical development over the next 48 hours, rising to a 30 percent chance over the next seven days. Although the primary impact is expected to be rainfall rather than wind, the system may eventually develop into a named storm. If it does, it will be named Tropical Storm Bertha. Meteorologists note that while the disturbance is moving slowly to the north and northwest, it will provide soaking rain for much of the state. Residents should monitor the progress for potential flash flooding, particularly in areas with poor drainage. The National Hurricane Center will continue to provide regular model runs and satellite coverage as the system drifts.
