Dutch Prime Minister Rob Jetten participated in Amsterdam’s WorldPride 2026 Canal Parade, marking the first time a Dutch prime minister has joined the event. The parade featured 80 vessels carrying hundreds of thousands of spectators who gathered to watch the celebration of LGBTQ+ rights. During the event, a boat featured two giant inflatables of Donald Trump and Vladimir Putin, depicted as a kissing couple. The creators of the installation stated the goal was to highlight something human rather than to provoke. This display occurred as the LGBTQ+ community faces increasing pressure from new discriminatory legislation and security concerns following a recent attack in Berlin. Mayor Femke Halsema noted that authorities took extra security measures to ensure a smooth celebration. The parade also served as a tribute to the movement's history, featuring a boat from the LGBTQ+ rights group COC that carried a portrait of activist Marsha P. Johnson.
