Darline Graham Nordone is considering a bid for a full Senate term with the complete and total endorsement of President Trump.

Darline Graham Nordone is weighing a bid to run for a full Senate term in South Carolina following the sudden death of her brother, Senator Lindsey Graham. The administration announced that President Trump gave her his "complete and total endorsement" during a White House meeting, calling her a "spectacular person" who would be the ideal candidate to honor her brother's legacy. Darline Graham Nordone was appointed by Governor Henry McMaster to serve as the interim senator until January. She is the first woman to represent the state in the Senate. While she has never held elected office, she has extensive experience in public service, including her role as commissioner for the South Carolina Commission for the Blind. A special Republican primary will be held on August 11 to select a nominee for the November general election. Several other Republicans, including Lt. Gov. Pamela Evette and Rep. Nancy Mace, are considering the seat, but Darline Graham Nordone enters the race with high name recognition and significant presidential backing.
