While the president took credit for the move, Giant Eagle officials noted the initiative was part of a seasonal pricing strategy launched on July 9. The "On Sale This Season" promotion aims to provide value as consumers struggle with rising food costs. Giant Eagle, which was recently acquired by Kroger, stated the program uses insights from previous years to help customers save all summer long. The price reductions follow similar moves by other major retailers, including Walmart and Sam’s Club.
