President Trump to Consult Vladimir Putin on Russia's Alleged Satellite Assistance to Iran
President Trump stated that he will personally consult with Vladimir Putin to determine if Russia is providing satellite imagery of U.S. military installations in the Middle East to Iran. This follows reports from Volodymyr Zelenskyy, who claimed that Russian satellite surveillance of Gulf states and U.S. bases has shown a clear correlation with Iranian strikes. While Zelenskyy provided specific evidence of four air bases falling within the area of interest of Russian satellites in late July, President Trump expressed skepticism regarding the extent of Russia's involvement. The administration noted that even if Russia is assisting Iran, the impact has been negligible because the U.S. has significantly weakened Iran's capabilities. Trump compared the situation to the U.S. invasion of Venezuela, where Russian-supplied equipment failed to stop the American advance. Despite the administration's downplaying of the role of Russia, the two wars have officially merged as Ukraine targeted an Iranian vessel in the Caspian Sea, which Iran claimed allegedly killed a sailor.
