Mayo Clinic in Rochester retained its position as the best hospital in Minnesota according to the U.S. News and World Report's 2026-2027 Best Hospitals Honor Roll released on Tuesday. The Rochester campus is among the nation's top five hospitals in 10 specialty areas, and the Arizona and Florida campuses also rank first in their respective states. Mayo Clinic stated that the recognition reflects the dedication of its staff and a commitment to quality care. While the Rochester campus dropped out of the top five for obstetrics and gynecology and geriatrics, it remains a leader in regional specialties. The Rochester campus ranks first in the state for cancer care, cardiology, orthopedics, and rehabilitation. Nationally, other top-performing hospitals were recognized. Northwestern Memorial and Rush University Medical Center in Chicago were ranked among the nation's top 20 hospitals. Additionally, Chicago saw 20 hospitals earn 'Best Regional Hospital' honors for providing care to underserved patients.
