Sgt. Angel S. Rampersad has been identified as the third American service member killed during a recent Iranian attack on a Jordan air base.

The Pentagon confirmed that Sgt. Angel S. Rampersad, a 28-year-old signal operations support specialist from New York, is believed to have been killed in action during an Iranian strike on the Muwaffaq Salti Air Base in Jordan on July 17. Previously listed as missing, Rampersad was identified after the recovery of remains from the site. Her death brings the total number of U.S. service members killed in hostile action since the Iran War began to 18. The administration announced that the conflict has resulted in significant casualties, including the deaths of 1st Lt. Tyler Feehan and Pfc. Isabella Gonzales during the same Jordan attack, and Sgt. Michael Emmanuel Swinton during a drone detonation in Iraq. President Trump attended a dignified transfer at Dover Air Force Base to honor the fallen soldiers. While Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth described the campaign as a "historic and overwhelming victory," the rising death toll highlights Iran's continued ability to strike U.S. bases despite the collapse of a recent interim ceasefire.
