President Trump considers launching a massive military strike on Iran to force a peace deal as regional tensions escalate.

President Trump is weighing a "massive attack" on Iran that would be "bigger than ever before" to pressure Tehran into a peace negotiation. The administration announced that the U.S. will hold Iran financially responsible for damages caused by its Houthi proxies in the Red Sea, potentially using the $2 billion of blocked Iranian funds held within U.S. borders to cover costs. The conflict has intensified as Iran-backed Houthi rebels opened a new front in the Red Sea, causing global benchmark Brent crude oil to surge above $100 a barrel. While the U.S. Central Command completed a 13th consecutive night of strikes to diminish Iranian threats to the Strait of Hormuz, Iran has retaliated by hitting U.S. military bases in Kuwait, Bahrain, and Jordan. President Trump noted that while Iran wants to negotiate, it has not yet "received enough pain" to commit to a deal. Meanwhile, the U.K. has been labeled an "accomplice" by Iran for providing military bases to the U.S. during the ongoing escalation.
