Representative Marcy Kaptur Suffers Non-Life-Threatening Injuries in Toledo Hit-and-Run Crash
Representative Marcy Kaptur was hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries after a hit-and-run crash in Toledo, Ohio, on August 2. The 80-year-old congresswoman was a passenger in a Ford Bronco traveling to a church service when a Nissan Altima crossed the center line and struck her vehicle. Kegan Zimmermann, Kaptur's campaign manager, was the driver of the Bronco and was also transported to a nearby hospital with stable, non-life-threatening injuries. Toledo police described the incident as a 'hit-skip crash' and confirmed that the driver of the at-fault vehicle fled the scene. Authorities are currently investigating the accident at the intersection of North Detroit and Central avenues. While the driver of the Nissan Altima remains unidentified, police have made significant progress and are following several strong leads to identify the responsible party. Kaptur's office stated that the congresswoman is active, alert, and expected to return to her full schedule soon.
