Uber agrees to acquire Delivery Hero in a major deal combining food and taxi services across 99 countries.

Uber agreed to acquire Delivery Hero in a deal valuing the German company at approximately $14.8 billion. The takeover offer sets out to combine Uber Eats with Delivery Hero’s various brands across 99 countries, creating a massive global food and transport delivery platform. The transaction structure separates markets to maintain competition, with New York-based private equity firm SSW Partners acquiring Delivery Hero’s operations in 14 key markets. Uber plans to extend its combined services to 58 markets, up from 34. Dara Khosrowshahi, CEO of Uber, stated the merger will create more opportunities for merchants and couriers by scaling a proven platform. Delivery Hero’s board and executives unanimously supported the deal. The agreement ensures that Uber will maintain Delivery Hero’s headquarters in Berlin and keep its German workforce intact through at least 2029. The deal is anticipated to finalize in the second half of 2027, pending regulatory approvals.
