Volodymyr Zelenskyy Meets With President Trump in Washington to Secure Vital Support for Ukraine
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy visited Washington to meet with President Trump to secure more vital American help for Ukraine's ongoing fight against Russia. During the closed-door meeting, President Trump described the administration's efforts to support Kyiv, and Zelenskyy expressed his desire to the administration to weaken the aggressor and keep up the pressure to bring an end to the war. Ukraine's recent successes in long-range drone strikes against Russian oil refineries and military infrastructure have restored U.S. goodwill. The administration announced that Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner would travel to Kyiv in the future to facilitate a few more diplomatic efforts. Zelenskyy also met with U.S. Senate representatives and major weapons manufacturers Lockheed Martin and Raytheon. He emphasized Ukraine's readiness to share its battle-tested drone technology with the U.S. and sought to push for more sanctions on Russia. The administration announced that President Trump would grant Ukraine licenses to manufacture the Patriot air defense systems it needs to counter Russian ballistic missiles.
