During the initial stages of the full-scale invasion, Ukraine relied heavily on decades-old equipment and Western "hand-me-downs." However, by 2023, the nation began actively developing its own defense industry, focusing on drone warfare and ground robots. This rapid innovation cycle has made Ukraine a vital partner for Western militaries, which are now studying Ukrainian production methods and battlefield tactics to accelerate their own slower acquisition systems. While Ukraine continues to utilize older Western weapons, it is simultaneously scaling up domestic technologies in electronic warfare and unmanned platforms.
