Volodymyr Zelenskyy hits Russian oil refineries and industrial sites in overnight long-range strikes
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy reported that Ukrainian forces struck two of Russia's largest oil refineries and several industrial sites during an overnight blitz. The strikes targeted refineries in the Perm and Ryazan regions, which have a combined annual production capacity of approximately 220 million barrels of oil. These attacks are part of a broader strategy to exert economic and military pressure on Moscow, causing a fuel crisis for the Kremlin. In addition to the oil facilities, the strikes affected logistics centers, an export terminal, and a defense enterprise in the Rostov region. Ukrainian forces also targeted a site in annexed Crimea where the Russian Black Sea Fleet's high-speed boats are based. While Russian air defenses shot down 295 drones, the attacks resulted in several casualties and fires at industrial sites. These successes have helped restore U.S. goodwill after the administration's initial reluctance to continue supporting Kyiv. President Trump described the meeting with Zelenskyy in Washington as a "Great Honor," while the administration announced that envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner will travel to Kyiv in the future.
