Attorney Ben Crump has initiated an independent investigation into the death of Nolan Wells, an 18-year-old who disappeared during a July 4 boat trip and was found two days later on Horn Island, Mississippi. The investigation follows a preliminary independent autopsy performed by Dr. Roger A. Mitchell Jr., which found the cause of death to be undetermined pending further examination. While the autopsy revealed red discoloration on the back of the head, it did not find severe deep-tissue injuries or fractures. Ben Crump and his legal team have issued spoliation letters to the friends of Nolan Wells, requiring them to preserve all relevant materials, including text messages, photos, and boat records. The investigation seeks to clarify whether foul play occurred, as the teen was found face down and fully clothed while his friends returned to the mainland with his phone and keys. District Attorney Angel Myers McIlrath stated that all evidence will be presented to a grand jury. Additionally, Rev. Al Sharpton, Tyler Perry, and Terrell Owens have offered a combined $125,000 reward for information leading to an arrest and conviction.
