President Trump Unveils Plans for a Massive Parking Garage and Comprehensive Overhaul of Dulles International Airport
The administration announced a comprehensive renovation of Dulles International Airport, featuring a new parking garage that President Trump claims will be the largest in the world. The project, a partnership between the U.S. Department of Transportation, the Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority, and United Airlines, will add 5 million square feet of space and replace existing concourses. President Trump selected the designs after reviewing more than 30 proposals from top global architects. The new facility will preserve the iconic terminal designed by Eero Saarinen while adding modernized concourses and tunnels to replace current trams. The administration announced an increase of up to $13 billion to the original renovation funds, bringing the total investment to over $20 billion. While the proposed 32,000-spot parking deck exceeds current requirements, President Trump emphasized its convenience for travelers. The project is expected to be completed over several years, aiming to create a more efficient and elevated experience from curb to gate.
