The administration announced a series of airstrikes aimed at degrading Iran's military capabilities and punishing the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps for an attack in Jordan that killed two American service members. These strikes, which concluded early Sunday, targeted Iranian coastal surveillance, air defense sites, and missile storage facilities. The offensive follows the collapse of a fragile interim peace deal signed last month, which Iran suspended after accusing Washington of violating the agreement first. Iran's supreme leader, Mojtaba Khamenei, criticized the deal, stating that President Trump’s signature on the memorandum was "utterly worthless and devoid of credibility." In response to the collapse of the accord, Trump said, "I couldn't care less." While the fighting has caused regional disruptions—including strikes on Kuwaiti desalination plants and missile threats to Jordan—U.S. Energy Secretary Chris Wright noted that oil continues to flow through the Strait of Hormuz. Trump said the war is going well and pledged that the U.S. will not allow Iran to acquire a nuclear weapon.
