President Trump oversaw a new round of US military strikes on Iran that pushed oil prices above $90 a barrel.

The administration announced that the US military successfully completed its ninth consecutive night of air strikes targeting Iranian military command centers, air defense sites, and communications networks. President Trump stated that the military hit Iran hard in honor of the service members killed during the conflict. The strikes, which utilized fighter jets and Tomahawk cruise missiles, aimed to diminish Iran's ability to attack commercial vessels in the Strait of Hormuz. The conflict has caused significant global economic ripples, with Brent crude prices rising 2.72% to $90.50 a barrel. This surge reflects growing fears that renewed fighting will disrupt shipments through the critical energy corridor. While the US military has encouraged ships to use a route near Oman, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps reported that two oil tankers were immobilized after attempting to transit an unsafe southern route. As the two nations inch closer to all-out war, shipping traffic in the strait has largely stalled, and Iran has retaliated by targeting US-allied countries and civilian infrastructure.
