Tom Homan defends ICE enforcement and urges compliance following recent fatal shootings of illegal immigrants

Tom Homan, the border czar for the administration, defended the actions of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) following a series of fatal shootings of illegal immigrants. During an interview with Margaret Brennan, Homan addressed the deaths of Lorenzo Salgado Araujo in Houston and Joan Sebastian Guerrero, noting that both individuals were not the primary targets of the operations. Homan emphasized that the victims would have survived if they had simply complied with the federal law enforcement. While critics pointed out that the Houston shooting occurred in an unmarked vehicle, Homan maintained that the cars are equipped with emergency lights and sirens. He acknowledged that if the agents failed to activate those lights, it could be considered an issue. Homan also criticized the "hateful rhetoric" from rioters and members of Congress who often claim ICE is not a real law enforcement agency. He warned that unless critics stop their complaints and allow the agency to enforce existing laws, "bloodshed" will continue.
