Delcy Rodriguez reports that the death toll from two powerful earthquakes in Venezuela has risen to 5,069.

Delcy Rodriguez confirmed that the death toll from two powerful earthquakes that struck Venezuela last month reached 5,069 on Friday. The interim government reported that the number of injured individuals remains steady at 16,740. The increase in fatalities is attributed to ongoing recovery and debris-clearing operations, particularly in the coastal state of La Guaira, which was the hardest-hit region. Since the 7.2 and 7.5 magnitude quakes occurred on June 24, the country has recorded a total of 1,331 aftershocks. The government reported significant structural damage across the nation, noting that 856 buildings are damaged and 190 have collapsed completely. In addition to buildings, hundreds of other structures, including roads and bridges, were affected by the seismic activity. Authorities continue to work through the debris to stabilize the region and reach those still trapped under rubble.
