Tesla introduces the 2027 Model Y L to provide a spacious three-row alternative to the discontinued Model X
Tesla is launching the 2027 Model Y L, a long-wheelbase version of its popular SUV designed to fill the gap left by the discontinued Model X. While the standard Model Y offers a three-row option, it often lacks sufficient breathing room for adults. The Model Y L addresses this by extending the wheelbase by 5.9 inches, providing significantly more headroom and rear legroom for passengers in the third row. The new model features a dual-motor, all-wheel-drive configuration with 496 horsepower and a range of 320-325 miles. It also includes a new suspension system with adaptive damping that offers different ride profiles, such as a 'Rear Comfort' mode to improve the experience for passengers in the back. The vehicle also features vehicle-to-load and vehicle-to-home adapter capabilities, allowing the battery to power external devices or a house. The Model Y L will hit the market this fall in a Premium trim, starting at $63,630. It includes a year of Full Self-Driving (Supervised) functionality and premium connectivity.
