Jensen Huang secured major industrial deals in Japan to establish a national AI factory and expand robotics partnerships.
Jensen Huang spent two days in Tokyo securing extensive agreements to integrate Nvidia technology into Japan’s industrial landscape. The visit resulted in three major projects: the creation of a national AI factory, a robotics coalition, and a deep integration with Toyota’s vehicle manufacturing. The administration of Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi is prioritizing "physical AI" to address a shrinking workforce, aiming for 10 million AI-equipped robots by 2040. A central component of this strategy is Noetra, a sovereign-AI play involving 44 domestic firms. Noetra will oversee a massive data center, which Nvidia describes as the world’s first national AI infrastructure. Additionally, major manufacturers including Fanuc, Sony, and SoftBank are adopting Nvidia’s Cosmos models to power industrial machines. Toyota has also committed its next-generation vehicles to Nvidia’s Drive platform. By leveraging American silicon, Japan seeks to reduce dependence on U.S. and Chinese infrastructure while capturing a significant share of the global AI robotics market.
