Derek Reid Arrested for Fatal Hit-and-Run That Killed Temple University Student Bryce Wolfe

U.S. Marshals have taken 48-year-old Derek Reid into custody in connection with a fatal hit-and-run that killed 20-year-old Temple University student Bryce Wolfe. Reid was charged with involuntary manslaughter, homicide by vehicle, and several other driving offenses for the crash that occurred on June 24. During the collision, Wolfe was riding a motorcycle and was pinned under Reid's SUV for over a mile before the vehicle continued without stopping. In addition to the and hit-and-run charges, Reid faces a separate set of charges for a 2021 sexual assault of a minor. He was apprehended in Philadelphia's West Oak Lane section while acting as a handyman. Authorities noted that Reid had been difficult to identify because he frequently wore face coverings while evading police. District Attorney Larry Krasner stated that the office will pursue the charges to the fullest extent of the law to secure justice for the Wolfe family. Reid is currently being held on $750,000 bail for each case.
