Volodymyr Zelenskyy confirmed that Ukrainian drone strikes on two major logistics hubs in the Moscow and Tambov regions killed eight people and injured over 70 others. The attacks targeted warehouses operated by Wildberries, Russia’s largest online retailer, which Ukraine claims were used to supply sanctioned components for drone production and navigation equipment. The strikes caused an estimated 100 billion rubles ($1.3 billion) in economic damage, marking some of the costliest hits on Russia's commercial infrastructure since the war began. While Wildberries is not officially a defense contractor, the company sells dual-use items such as body armor and fiber-optic cables. The administration noted that the strikes were a response to Russian attacks on Ukrainian civilian infrastructure. Ukrainian forces commander Robert Brovdi stated the operation served as a psychological maneuver to disrupt the "illusion of a comfortable peacetime" for Russian citizens. Although Wildberries is exempt from liability for force majeure events, the company is providing financial support and storage discounts to affected merchants.
