A terrorist attack at a Moscow restaurant killed at least five people, including a woman carrying a bomb.

A bomb carried by an unidentified woman exploded outside an upscale Italian restaurant in central Moscow on Saturday evening, killing at least five people and injuring approximately 20 others. The explosion, which occurred near the Balzi Rossi restaurant on Kudrinskaya Square, was described by Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin as a "brutal terrorist attack." Authorities reported that the woman attempted to enter the restaurant with a package disguised as a gift, but a security guard stopped her to inspect the device. The bomb, which had the explosive force of one kilogram of TNT, detonated and sent the woman and the guard into the air. While the woman was likely unaware of the contents of the package, the blast was reportedly intended to target guests at a private event. The Russian Embassy in Italy blamed Ukraine for the attack, suggesting that Kyiv's "terrorist gang" sought to intimidate those working in Russia. The explosion occurred during a birthday celebration for Colonel General Alexander Chaiko, who was reportedly the primary target of the assassination attempt.
