Whatnot is seeking to raise financing at a $20 billion valuation, signaling continued investor interest in consumer startups.
Whatnot is currently in talks to raise financing at a valuation of approximately $20 billion. This represents a significant increase from the $11.5 billion valuation at which the company raised capital late last year. As a live shopping startup, Whatnot hosts livestream shopping across categories such as fashion, sneakers, and sports cards, taking a cut of each sale made on its platform in North America and Europe. The company recorded $8 billion in live sales last year. The potential valuation jump suggests that investors still have an appetite for consumer startups with rapid revenue and growth, despite the AI boom shifting much of the industry's capital toward foundation models and infrastructure. The Los Angeles-based startup is backed by major firms including Andreessen Horowitz, Capital G, Sequoia Capital, and Lightspeed Venture Partners.
