Sudhir Kumar and hundreds of young protesters are demanding a comprehensive reform of India’s national exam system after allegations of leaked papers and technical failures. The demonstrations, led by the Cockroach Janta Party, have seen students take to the streets of Delhi to protest a system they claim cheats millions of students out of fair opportunities. The protests intensified on Monday when police used tear gas and bamboo sticks to manage a large march toward the parliament building. While the police declared the march unlawful, the rioters remained defiant, rebuilding their makeshift camp at Jantar Mantar after it was demolished. The crackdown resulted in injuries to approximately 150 protesters and 118 police officers. While the education minister has yet to comment publicly, the administration signaled a commitment to preventing future paper leaks. Many protesters now argue that a simple system overhaul is insufficient, with many demanding that Narendra Modi resign after more than a decade of leadership.
