Bobby Corser predicts a heat wave and wildfire smoke will impact the Portland metro area and surrounding regions.
Bobby Corser reported that a Storm Tracker 2 Weather Alert has been issued for a heat wave beginning Tuesday, which will bring near triple-digit temperatures to the region. Highs will reach the low to mid-90s on Tuesday and could reach the low 100s on Wednesday. A Heat Advisory is in effect for the digital meteorologist's forecast area, including the Willamette Valley and southwest Washington. Simultaneously, wildfire smoke is expected to move into the Portland metro area, potentially affecting air quality. While smoke may keep temperatures a few degrees cooler, heat remains the primary concern. Additionally, a Red Flag Warning is in effect for the southern Willamette Valley due to dry vegetation and gusty winds, increasing fire danger. The hottest weather is expected to ease later in the week, with temperatures returning to the 80s by the weekend.
