Jackie, the beloved Big Bear bald eagle, remains stable at a rehabilitation facility following a ground altercation with two subadult eagles.

Jackie is currently recovering at the Ojai Raptor Center after being rescued by the San Dimas Raptor Rescue team on Saturday. The eagle was spotted at Dana Point Park involved in a "short ground altercation" where she fended off two younger eagles using her talons but was unable to fly away. While Jackie is currently underweight and anemic with kidney inflammation, she remains alert and is eating well with assistance. The nonprofit Friends of Big Bear Valley confirmed that while she is not banded, public photos and videos helped identify her as the famous eagle from the Big Bear Eagle Nest Cam. Wildlife experts are currently testing Jackie for environmental toxins, including lead, zinc, and rodenticides. While her condition remains critical, her mate Shadow continues to protect their nest and care for their eaglets, Luna and Sandy. Rescuers noted that while it may take weeks for her to return to the nest, her current resilience shows her strength as a "mighty eagle."
