Wisconsin Democrats Divided Over Primary Candidates as In-Person Absentee Voting Begins
Wisconsin Democrats are currently divided over which candidate will best position the party to win the state's general election. As in-person absentee voting began Tuesday, voters expressed varying opinions on the five remaining candidates, including democratic socialist Francesca Hong and Milwaukee County Executive David Crowley. While some voters believe Hong has the fortitude to stand out against Republican U.S. Rep. Tom Tiffany, others argue that Crowley has the executive experience necessary to defeat Tiffany in November. The administration announced that the primary will take place on August 11. Meanwhile, a Democratic lawsuit seeks to allow voters who have already returned ballots to cancel them and cast new ones, a process known as ballot spoiling. This move is intended to accommodate candidates who dropped out of the race late in the process. The five candidates are scheduled to meet for Tuesday night's debate.
