A 62-year-old woman died following a multi-vehicle collision on Interstate 80 near 102nd Street in Omaha on Wednesday night. The crash occurred around 10:45 p.m. when a Kenworth semi-truck, traveling eastbound, attempted to change lanes and struck a Chevrolet Equinox in the adjacent lane. The Equinox lost control, hit a concrete barrier, and then re-entered the roadway to be struck by a Peterbilt semi-truck. The vehicle caught fire following the impact. Omaha police reported that the woman was transported to CUMC-Bergan Mercy Hospital, where she later passed away. The interstate was reopened by early Thursday morning. Authorities continue to investigate the cause of the crash.
